Presidential Privilege

President-elect Barack Obama arrived in Washington on January 4 and is now an official DC resident. His  arrival also means more street closings and parking restrictions , which will be in place through midnight on January 15 —   near the Hay Adams Hotel. 

The following closures and restrictions are now in effect  in portions of the Downtown BID area:

  • 16th Street, between I and H Streets, is closed to vehicular traffic and parking is restricted.
  • H Street, between 17th Street and Vermont Avenue, is closed to vehicular traffic and parking is restricted.
  • Parking is restricted on I Street, between 14th and 17th Streets.
  • Pedestrian access may also be restricted on the above-referenced streets, although residents will have access to their homes and delivery trucks will be allowed to make deliveries to area businesses once they are cleared through security checkpoints.
