Don’t know much about local history? Join Cultural Tourism DC (1250 H Street) as it gears up for WalkingTown DC & BikingTown DC beginning Friday, September 23 and ending Sunday, October 2. This year, there are more tours, times, and ways to see DC, including several Downtown hotspots.
All 175-plus tours are free, continue rain or shine, and are led by historians, community leaders, business owners, artists, licensed tour guides, enthusiasts, and docents. New this year: bite-size lunchtime tours offered at noon each weekday September 26-30; happy hour tours September 27-30; and bike tours (helmets are required, and bike locks recommended).
More than a half dozen tours take place in Downtown and include highlights of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center’s (801 Mount Vernon Place) art collection, Italian influences in Judiciary Square, and a tour of the National Building Museum (401 F Street).
Many of the tours simply require you to show up, but most require online reservations. To find out more, including complete tour descriptions and the most up-to-date information, visit www.culturaltourismdc.org.
This event is supported by presenting sponsors and several event partners, including the DowntownDC BID.
