Looking for a job? The Washington metropolitan area might be your best bet. According to the Brookings Institution, the region ranks No. 1 among major metropolitan areas for potential job creation. The report, “Education, Demand, and Unemployment in Metropolitan America,” noted that the area, when compared to the nation’s 100 top metro areas, has the best combination of educated workers and resilient industries to produce new jobs. Rounding out the Top Five are Boston and Madison, Wisconsin (tied for second place); Albany, NY; and Honolulu. Riverside, California—and not Detroit—ranked last among the 100 major metro areas. It was hampered by high education gaps and vulnerable industries.
