You’re gonna love the melodious Jazz in the Garden free concert series, come rain or come shine. The annual jazz extravaganza enters its 10th season and jumps into full swing from the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden on 7th Street and Constitution Avenue on May 28.
Bring a blanket and prepare to bounce to performances that feature hot salsa, fusion rock/jazz, Latino jazz from Los Angeles, a jump swing band and much more. Surrender to the ambience. The elegant yet informal Sculpture Garden includes native American species of canopy trees, flowering trees, shrubs, ground covers, perennials and 17 eye-catching works from the Gallery’s art collection.
A dazzling fountain, transformed into an ice rink in winter, provides the backdrop for the art installations and the music, to be performed weekly by various artists through September 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm, rain or shine. For that al fresco touch, homemade picnic baskets can be pre-ordered from the Garden’s Pavilion Café and picked up upon arrival.
