Traffic Advisory: Blockbuster Filming in Downtown

Release Date: Tuesday, October 5th 2010

Forget about hopping a plane to catch the latest goings-on in movie land. On Monday, October 11 through Friday, October 15, Transformers 3, the third and final film in the live-action Transformers series, will begin filming in various Downtown locations. Expect street closures and temporary parking restrictions to accompany the hoopla.

Interested in watching from the sidelines? Production highlights will include scenes using special effects on Tuesday, October 12, from 6:30 pm until 6:30 am, along Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd Street and Constitution Avenue. Be prepared for plenty of pneumatic car flippers, low-level pyrotechnics, simulated gunfire and noise galore—all night and morning long.

Live or work nearby and have questions? Contact the District Office of Motion Picture and Television Development at 202.727.6608 or the production’s information hotline at 202.540.8039. The movie, based on the Transformers toy line, is scheduled for release in July 2011.
