Celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year 4705, the Year of the Boar, on Sunday, February 18 at two festive Chinatown events. The Boar is brave, generous, kind and driven by a passion for life. Chinese legend says people born in the Year of the Boar have pure hearts and their hard work will pave the way for great success.
From 11:00 am – 5:00 pm enjoy a full day of programs at the Chinatown Cultural Community Center (616 H Street) and enjoy live cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, Chinese music, China exchange student demonstrations and more. Browse many of the displays teaching traditions for the New Year or participate in hands-on arts and crafts projects all coinciding with the New Year parade. Join the Chinese Community of Greater Washington Metropolitan (510 I Street) as they bring in the New Year on H Street between 6th and 8th with an exciting day of folk dancing, live music and parade from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Also, the popular lion and dragon dances and five-story high firecrackers will make an appearance at 4:00 pm. The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) is an umbrella organization representing 30 Chinese-American organizations throughout the Greater Washington Metropolitan area.
