Chinatown Activity

Release Date: Wednesday, October 5th 2011

Douglas Development Corporation (792 H Street) broke ground last month on the 55,000 square-foot (SF) development planned for the northeast corner of 7th and H Streets in the heart of Chinatown. The $22 million project will be redeveloped into a state-of-the-art, mixed-use development, which will include 22,000 SF of office space and 33,000 SF of retail. Less than 25% of the total space will be new construction, slated to begin in the next month or two. The project is expected to be completed in the spring.  Rumor has it that restaurants are aggressively pursuing the retail space at $200 per SF. Douglas partnered with McCaffery Interests, Inc., a Chicago-based real estate firm, to purchase the boarded up property, formerly occupied by CVS near the Chinatown Arch.
