The DC Public Library is once again participating in the National Endowment for the Art’s The Big Read program—and it’s not too late to hop on board.
The Big Read encourages reading for pleasure and enlightenment and communities across the country are urged to choose one of 30 books to read. The Big Read—DC is a month-long citywide celebration that presents a series of activities inspired by Carson McCullers' The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, which tells an unforgettable tale of moral isolation in a small mill town in the 1930s. The program will run through May 23, so head over to Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G Street, or another city branch, to grab a copy of this year’s book and enjoy the following programs: an exhibit and book displays, special events, book clubs and discussions, films, lectures and a workshop. The book is available in paperback, audiobook, Playaway and DVD. For more information, visit www.dclibrarylabs.org/ms/bigread.
