The Washington Auto Show, a fun-filled event for the family and industry connoisseurs, returns to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place) on Wednesday, January 27, and runs through Sunday, January 31. There’s a lot to see and do so bring your walking shoes.
DC’s largest public show attracts hundreds of thousands of consumers, key policy makers, industry leaders and environmental visionaries. The five-day extravaganza will convene the most influential leaders on the future of the automotive industry and showcase the latest innovations in sustainable technology, more than 700 new makes and models from more than 42 manufacturers and interactive exhibits.
There will be entertainment, celebrity guests and contests galore. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Superstars Batista and Randy Orton; Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom from the Washington Capitals (401 9th Street); former Washington Redskins cornerback Darrell Green; and the Redskins Cheerleaders will fill an extensive event calendar that also will include appearances by Rock It The Robot; the Playland Mascots; Max the Magician and others.
If you happen to stroll by the CityCenter DC site located at 11th and H Streets and hear random screeching and braking, don’t run for the hills. General Motors has invited key media and government officials only to test-drive its new Chevy Volt electric vehicle at the CityCenter DC parking lot on Tuesday, January 26, a day before the Auto Show kicks off. Sorry, this event will not be open to the public. Rats!
The Auto Show hours are 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, Wednesday and Thursday; 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, Friday and Saturday; and 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Sunday. Weekday adult tickets are priced at $10; weekend tickets are $12. Children ages 6 to 12 pay $5; those 5 and under are admitted for free.
