Release Date: Friday, January 14th 2011

Mentioning taxes have you hyperventilating? Take a deep breath and exhale. Help is on the way. The Cultural Development Corporation (CuDC) is sponsoring a tax workshop on Saturday, January 29, from 10:00 am to noon at Flashpoint’s Mead Theatre Lab (916 G Street). Navigate your way through this year’s tax season.
Small business owners will have the opportunity to learn about tax forms—particularly those used by individual artists—saving on tax payments and exploring simple strategies to plan for tax time all year long. Get the skinny on specific expenses that can be written off, how to document expenses and how filing taxes can affect your ability to qualify for affordable artist housing.
Nothing’s off the table. Ask burning questions about filing 2010 taxes, and discover ways to prepare for 2011. Certified public accountant Brian Davis will lead the discussion.
Register online by Friday, February 5. CuDC’s Red Circle members get to attend free of charge. Nonmembers pay $20.00. For more information, email redcircle@flashpointdc.org, or call Kate Judson at 202.315.1337.
