Welcome aboard to the Downtown BID’s newly elected Board of Directors’ officers and members, who began new terms October 1. Matt Klein, president of Akridge, starts a second term as chairman and will serve for fiscal year 2009. Joining him are officers who also are beginning another one-year term, and two new Board members.
Under Klein’s leadership, the Downtown BID has launched a vending demonstration project at 8th and H Streets NW, a pilot public recycling program, expanded the scope and reach of Arts on Foot and the National Cherry Blossom Festival and facilitated dialogue about Smart Parking technologies. He also has guided the Downtown BID as it worked toward housing solutions for the city’s homeless population and created a Greening Downtown DC strategy that protects the planet, people and profit.
Klein has more than 20 years experience in the real estate industry. He joined Akridge in 1998 and is responsible for overseeing corporate planning, acquisition and development, asset management, project finance, lender/partner relations and the financial stewardship of the Akridge operating companies.
