Double Treat
A few of Downtown's finest restaurants have extended Washington DC Restaurant Week beyond August 17, offering diners the chance to get their chow on and sample more culinary delights at bargain prices. Café Atlantico, 701 Restaurant, Jaleo, McCormick & Schmick's, Mio, PS7's, Oyamel, Rasika, Zaytinya and Zengo have all extended the popular food fest by another week, until the end of the month or somewhere in between.

Recycling Is Here! Look for the new blue cans around Downtown. The Downtown BID and the Department of Public Works (DPW) launched a pilot program of public recycling on July 28, placing 25 recycling cans in locations throughout the Downtown BID area. The lidded recycling cans were placed in high pedestrian areas next to existing trash receptacles. Read more ...

Short Films Blitz
Get ready for a whirlwind sampling of short films starting September 11 through September 14. That’s when the DC Shorts Film Festival kicks off its fifth year, offering film aficionados a treasure trove of 102 cinematic wonders, including many local movies and some from eight different countries. For your listening pleasure, half a dozen screenplays will also be read during the Festival. Love filmmakers? Here’s your chance to help put up some of the more than 165 filmmakers who are coming to town.
