Emmanuel Martin is chief of the Mobilien Division for the City of Paris. The purpose of the Mobilien project is to create a genuine surface transport network that is modern, practical, fast, reliable, and safe as well as adapted to the changing lifestyles of area residents. The main goal is to cut down on car traffic and boost mass transit and other energy-saving, low-polluting means of transportation. Rapid bus service has been launched on major Parisian streets that utilize dedicated bus ways as a key strategy to achieve these mobility goals.
