A screening of exceprts from the critically acclaimed PBS miniseries that uses letters, diaries, historical text, film, and photographs to document the sacrifices and accomplishments of African American servicemen and women since the earliest days of the republic will be followed by a discussion.
Ron Armstead, the executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus Veterans Braintrust, will moderate the panel that includes the film's writer and director Frank Martin, the film's historian Col. Krewasky Salter, and Regina Akers, historian at the Naval History and Heritage Command.
Admission to the National Archives is always free.
