Bruce Swaim attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a performance major in saxophone before becoming a full time professional musician in the D.C. area. 

Since moving to the D.C. area in the early 80's, Swaim has been active in studio work with many independent pop and jazz recording projects, numerous film and T.V. soundtracks and jingles, and performing at many venues in the U.S. and Canada.

In the D.C. area, Swaim has appeared in many top showcase concerts and clubs including the Kennedy Center, DAR Constitution Hall and Blues Alley.  Performance credits include Danny Gatton, Keeter Betts, Carl Allen, Rosemary Clooney, Martha Reeves, Millie Jackson, The Spinners, Michael Feinstein, Ronnie Wells, Houston Person, and many others.

The Jazz in the Garden Series is a free concert series featuring an array of artists performing various styles of jazz from swing to progressive to Latin every Friday evening at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden come rain or shine.
