The 21st Century Consort is the resident ensemble for contemporary music at the museum. Under the direction of conductor Christopher Kendall, the Consort, including principal players from the National Symphony Orchestra and other distinguished chamber musicians, offers two intriguing programs.

Experience fantastical forays into plant and animal life through four works, including Kaija Saariaho’s Six Japanese Gardens; Scott Wheeler’s Dragon Mountain; Evan Chambers’s The Barnacle and the Nautilus; and Robert Parris’s Book of Imaginary Beings.
