The Verizon Center is the site of the 2009 NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship from Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11—the first time DC will host a popular Division I NCAA Championship event!

Don’t rush to get tickets. The Frozen Four, as the championship is called, is sold out. But just think of the prestige now bestowed on Downtown and DC as a bona fide hockey town! More than 20,000 fans are expected to descend on Downtown for the semi-finals and national championship this weekend to watch the four teams who will compete in the tournament: Boston University, the University of Vermont, Miami University and Bemidji State, a lakeside campus in northern Minnesota.

The games, co-hosted by the US Naval Academy and the Greater Washington Sports Alliance, will also be televised nationally on ESPN. For more information, visit www.gwsportsalliance.com.
